Ryan Teaching Chess Class

Meet Chess Expert Ryan Deering

Coach Ryan Deering began chess at the age of six and developed as a chess player at the local club. Piedmont Chess Club meetings were the highlight of his childhood. By the age of 15, Coach Deering had become the highest-rated player in Southeast Missouri and started traveling long distances to play tournaments.

When Ryan was 16 years old, other chess players began hiring him to help improve their success in chess tournaments. After completing college and chasing career aspirations, Ryan realized he could make the most impact on the world by serving the chess community. In 2024 his rating surpassed the 2000 level, putting him in the US Chess Federation's Expert Class. He is now a full-time chess instructor of both adult and youth players.
